ABD released a major update of robot controller software, RC 9.4, to simplify ADAS testing

The development of new software is to meet the growing demand of NCAP testing, with the focus on improving availability. By automating most of the ADAS testing process, operators can improve the efficiency, accuracy and repeatability of their testing. This is achieved by providing a smooth test environment and using our robot field test products to seamlessly manage the planning, execution and review of tests.

The update includes the following aspects:

The latest European NCAP 2023 pre-configured test scenario library

The streamlined ADAS test workflow greatly simplifies and accelerates the setting of target platforms and test scenarios

The new flat interface makes it easier to watch and browse in bright light. Highlighting while hovering over an element also helps improve usability

One of the main features of RC 9.4 is the addition of a guided ADAS test workflow, which greatly reduces the time to set up LaunchPad and GST platforms. When one of the two platforms is detected, the software will automatically start the step-by-step workflow to guide the operator to complete the system startup and test setup process. Due to the new workflow, the number of operations required to start the platform has been reduced by half.

Another important development of RC 9.4 is the update of the European NCAP2023 test group specification. The test group is a comprehensive library of preset test scenarios. After the update, all ADAS protocols of current European NCAP that need to drive robots can be automatically tested. At present, there are more than 600 different test scenarios in the European NCAP test group library, including 150 new scenarios added for the latest protocol update in 2023. By using the test group, the operator can save several months of test path planning time.

RC 9.4 Cross-check can also be carried out to ensure that the test is correctly defined according to the specific test requirements. This includes data acquisition rate and vehicle reference point. The post-test processing tool will verify the test data and provide preliminary real-time pass or fail results.

compatibility:

RC9.4 can be run with PowerMAC9. We recommend that PowerMAC be updated to the latest version, 9.1.9.

If Synchro is used to run a multi-vehicle scenario, all robot systems must have a matching Major version number (the first number). This means that it is impossible to run Synchro between RC8 and RC9.

If RC9.4 is used in the driverless system, driverless base station (DBS) v1.37.0 or ground traffic control (GTC) 1.4.1 or later is required. Therefore, please update DBS/GTC with RC and PowerMAC versions at the same time.

The new RC 9.4 software will be the standard configuration of all new site test products from March 7, 2023. It can also be installed and upgraded on the hardware produced by ABD after 2015.
